The Four Leaf

If you ever find yourself strolling down John Street in Harrogate, it’s impossible not to be drawn into the vibrant atmosphere of The Four Leaf. Tucked away at 5-6 John St, HG1 1JZ, this lively bar and restaurant isn’t just a place to eat-it’s a destination for anyone craving delicious food, great drinks, and even better vibes.

From the moment you walk through the door, the energy is unmistakable. There's a buzz in the air, thanks in part to the regular live music and quiz nights that keep the crowd engaged. But let’s get straight to the good stuff: the food and drinks.

The Four Leaf delivers on all fronts with a menu packed with crowd-pleasers. Whether you're there for a casual bite or a night out, the Chicken Tikka Wrap, Club Sandwich, or Beef Burger with fries hits the spot just right. The Sharing Platter is another favorite, especially when you’re not sure what to get or just want a little bit of everything with your mates. For something on the lighter side, the Bruschetta or Halloumi Fries make great starters that don’t skimp on flavor.

Now, drinks. This place knows its way around a bar. With a great beer selection-think Neck Oil Ale and local brews on tap-alongside Prosecco, Champagne, and a full list of spirits and wines, you’re covered no matter what your palate prefers. Craving something a little cheeky? Their cocktails are a must-try. The Aperol Spritz is a refreshing go-to, while the Passion Fruit Margarita and signature UFO cocktail will have you asking the bartender what’s in it (in the best way possible).

Cocktails aside, The Four Leaf shines as a social hub. The venue is kitted out with bar games that keep the mood playful and light. Whether you’re popping in for a midweek pint or celebrating the weekend with friends, there’s always something happening.

If you’re after gluten-free options, you're in luck too. Their Gluten-Free Curry is a smart pick-flavorful and hearty without compromising dietary needs. Veggie or not, it's a dish that surprises in all the right ways.

Accessibility-wise, the restaurant offers wheelchair-accessible seating and toilet facilities, although note that the entrance itself isn’t wheelchair-accessible. There’s no dedicated parking either, so it’s worth planning ahead if mobility is a concern.

What makes The Four Leaf more than just another local pub is its commitment to creating a well-rounded guest experience. It’s not trying to be overly polished or pretentious. It’s just cool, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable. From the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks for snackers to Chicken Skewers and Hot Dogs for those wanting to indulge, the menu caters to a broad audience-without feeling overwhelming.

Need a pick-me-up? They’ve got Black Coffee for that too, served strong and hot, just the way you need it after a night of tequila and trivia.

With no delivery or takeaway options, The Four Leaf leans into its identity as a dine-in only venue. That means the food arrives fresh, the drinks are poured right, and the experience is fully immersive. And let’s be honest-there’s something a bit more special about food that’s enjoyed right where it’s made, surrounded by great music and friendly faces.

So whether you’re swinging by solo (it’s known for being great for solo dining, by the way) or turning it into a night out with friends, The Four Leaf serves up more than just food and drinks-it delivers a vibe you’ll want to return to.

This place is very nice and cosy with nice food, bartendenders, music, with TVs to enjoy some football or any kind of sport! The bartenders are very nice and helpful. There was this bartender, particularly this one called Thomas, that was very kind and helpful that recommended the drinks. The food is AMAZING!! I tried the "dirty fries", "halloumi fries" and the "spicy nachos" which were really good and were brought up quite fast! The decoration was on another level! As a Spanish person that loves his gastronomy, I recommend that, if you're at Harrogate and fancy a pint of Guiness or , going to "The Four Leaf" is a must!

Caitlin was amazing! Whenever I thought about my next drink, Caitlin was delivering it to us! Food was what you’d expect, but the Guinness was 10/10! I will 100% be back! Thank you Caitlin for making this experience as good as it was!

Didn’t get food as it was an evening had dinner already but food looked good. Brilliant atmosphere with a live Irish singer . Guinness was delightful, reasonably priced drinks and plenty of seats.

Good Irish themed pub, with great atmosphere. Food was excellent, especially the Irish stew (funnily enough). Good live music, very reasonable prices and a special mention to Alex for great, friendly service.

Every time I go into Four Leaf I get amazing food and service. I've made my way through the entire menu and my favourites are the chicken and the Irish stew! Bottomless brunch is also well worth it. Love the live music too. Particular shout outs to Cassy, Tom, Alex and of course, the chef! You guys go above and beyond!!
